Criteria for Potential Induction into the National Technical Honor Society

 

  • Applicants must be a GHHS Junior or Senior.

  • Students may self-nominate.

  • Students must submit two recommendations from current or past CTE teachers using the GHHS NTHS form.

  • At the time of application, the student must have an overall high school GPA of at least 3.5 (weighted).

  • At the time of application, the student must have a CTE GPA of at least 3.5 (un-weighted).

  • The student must have taken a minimum of three CTE classes, with at least one class taken in the Jr. or Sr. year. Current year CTE classes may be counted if they are shown on the student's schedule.

  • The student must have passed all courses in the previous semester, and continue to pass all classes once inducted.

  • Once students become a member, they must accumulate a total of 15 service hours per year (10 hours in club-sponsored activities, and 5 hours in service projects unrelated to the club).

  • NTHS members must attend monthly meetings once a month during lunch.

  • Prior or future school disciplinary, illegal, or academic actions may exclude a student from selection or continued membership. Students in the NTHS are expected to be role models in all areas at GHHS

  • If accepted, the student pays a one-time $31.00 dues ($30.00 direct to NTHS headquarters, $1.00 to GHHS for club expenses). This is due before the induction ceremony.

  • Members will be removed from NTHS if the member does not achieve and report their service hours by the deadline, does not maintain the required minimum GPA, does not continue to pass all classes, has an academic integrity issue, or by missing 3 monthly meetings. 

 

NTHS Application Process

IF YOU WERE AN NTHS MEMBER LAST YEAR AND ENDED THE YEAR AS A MEMBER IN GOOD STANDING (ATTENDED MEETINGS AND TURNED IN SERVICE HOURS) YOU DO NOT NEED TO REAPPLY OR PAY DUES.

2021-22 NEW MEMBER APPLICATION PROCESS

NTHS recruits new members only in the fall of each school year.

The 2021-22 NTHS member application will be available from Monday, August 23, 2021, to Friday, September 24, 2021

 

The application process has three parts:

 

1)      Completion of the online google application at the following link: https://tinyurl.com/2021NTHSAPP

 

2)      Applicants need to complete and turn in two (2) CTE Teacher Recommendations.

 

3)      In addition, applicants need to fill out and turn in the NTHS application signature sheet

 

All three application parts are due no later than September 24, 2021, no later than 3:00 PM.  Paper forms (#2 and #3 above) should be scanned and emailed to be turned in to Mr. Katsuleris at mkatsuleris@wcpss.net. Please make sure that you are using your school email if you are told you don't have permission to view the form.

NTHS NEW MEMBER TIMELINE:

  • New Member Applications open Monday, August 23, 2021.

  • The deadline for new member applications is September 24, 2021, at 3:00 PM (all three parts completed and turned in). After this date/time applications will NOT be accepted.

  • Starting on Friday, October 1, 2021 - Acceptance/Rejection notifications will be sent to students through their WCPSS email addresses. 

  • Tuesday, October 12, 2021 - New and previous members honor society officer candidates' self-nomination due (new members are encouraged to run for an officer position). Check here for descriptions of each position and application info.

  • Elections will be held at our first meeting on October 18, 2021.

  • The new member Induction will be held at a date to be determined. Will most likely be late October.

  • Required monthly meetings will be held monthly.

When filling out the online NTHS application (#1) above, the NTHS national organization requires that each applicant declare an occupational code indicating a career you may be interested in. Use this form to review the occupational codes for input on the Google Docs NTHS application.
